From what I've seen in fall and spring

1. Smartence
2. Homeplate Searcy
3. ECB Orange
4. Cell block

Not sure about all the others.
GA Power, 643 Cougars, Squeeze the Jury is still out on them until they go 60/90

Reign as we knew them last year, does not exist anymore so cross them off the list

Five Star and Georgia Braves - don't have enough to comment on.

Georgia Jackets both squads will be interesting to watch - heard one kid went over the pitch count last tournament. If that is the case over 95 pitches 1st tourney in that weather, don't let Dr. Andrew's find out.

This will be an interesting transition year for sure.

I was really impressed with what I've seen with Smartense, one or two weeks is not end all be all, but I'd put them at the top right now.

IMO Homeplate, Cell Block, Squeeze, 643, GA Jackets, etc... need to step up to 60/90 if they want to be considered a top team in 13u. 54/80 Major and Minor is basically like playing 13u minor. Come on guys go play on a big field.

You might need to do a little more research on that. One of those teams has played all 60/90 this spring... not that it matters. I'm sure each team is doing what they feel is best for their organization. To each is own.

I think lots of teams have kids playing school ball, so they are limited in what they can 'go after'. I'd say, unless you have a team full of bigger boys, that 10-foot jump from the mound is no joke. You could do more harm than good to the young men's arms by rushing it. At this point, and moving on up in ages, it's not longer as important as "who's the top"... Every team has to have one goal in mind: preparing the players for the next level. (High school for now). Some teams have lots of 8th graders, so you may see them playing more 60/90, where as a team with more 7th graders are playing the intermediate-sized field to again, hone and develop, and prep those kids for the next level. Next year, as is evident as years past, the 14U and above boards die off... No longer is it about "team", it's about the individual kids. Those committing. Showcases. PG stats. Or, if there is talk about which team is best... it's not "Astros", "HP", or "643"... Nope, it's Glynn Academy, Valdosta, Camden Co., Cartersville, Blessed Trinity.... The high school team. Where your kids doesn't have a choice to choose a team 'a county over' to meet his level for playing time... Nope. You're either good enough, or your not. OR, your parents play the politics game.

Regarding the 60/90 vs 54/80, I get it. Some kids just are not ready for 60/90 at 13u, however some of your better teams should be I would think. I've been around baseball over 40 years, Rec, travel, college, etc...
Rec ball players who play Junior League as 13 year olds which is part of the International Little League umbrella play on 60/90 fields. I have watched some 13 year old players struggle with it while others make a very easy transition, and that is considering they are coming from Little League fields that are 46/60. A few years ago Little League International came out with a 50/70 intermidiate division for 12 and 13 year olds. Not that any of this really means anything to travel ball and this forum, but I just find it very interesting with this age group and the transition.

It gets confusing, some of those programs have multiple teams...

60/90:
1-Smartense
2 HomePlate

<long way down>

3 (tie) Astros Orange
3 (tie) Astros Navy
3 (tie) FiveStar
3 (tie) Cellblock
3 (tie) TE Premier

54/80
1 Titans Blue
2/3 GA Bombers (both teams)
The rest is a jumbled mess, but the above 3 teams are consistent in the Gold Brackets.

IMO 60/90 based on records, head to head and end of tournament standings I would say these three teams below are very close to each other of being the top 13u teams so far playing 60/90.

I would probably give Smartense the #1 spot based on who they beat, their overall record, by how much the won by and the two PG Championships won. Smartense has won two 60/90 PG Championships beating TE Premier twice in final games but lost to Astro Navy in one final game.

I would then say #2 Astros Navy on winning two PG Championships as well. Astros Navy has won two 60/90 PG Tournaments by beating Smartense and TE Premier each in the Championship games.

#3 TE Premier is getting to the Championship games they just haven't won a tournament yet. TE Premier has lost three PG championship games to the above two teams.

I agree with The Duke, although at this age, any of the top 8-10 teams could beat anyone on a given day. And the rankings would be much different if teams like East Cobb astros and the GA jackets tried to make 1 super team and 1 bad team instead of evenly dividing their talent into 2 even teams. Teams like the Astros and jackets have 2 major level teams while teams like Smarttense have a major and and then a "AA" team

Agree not just ECB and GA Jackets. Team Elite did the same thing no stacked #1 team either, which is why we are seeing what we are seeing with Home Plate and SmarTense way out in the front of the pack, then
ECB, Jackets, Team Elite and others there at that next tier with two balanced teams vs one super team.. One could argue if they shuffled teams and built super teams, yes the gap would close. Rumor has it ECB Navy is picking up 3-5 players from ECB Orange and dropping a few back to Orange to build Navy up as their stronger team, hard to tell if you look at the rosters they both look almost identical.

GA Bombers did the same as Home Plate and SmarTense, and they stacked the Gaines team who has been playing well at 54/80. This week they finally make the jump to 60/90 so real curious to see how they fare against some stronger competition and the bigger field. Their match up against ECB Navy will be a good indicator.

In the end, it's 13U baseball and we should be developing them for the future so it really should be about good quality reps against good competition at this point. I actually these balanced teams are good for allowing for players that would sit on these mega teams get good quality reps and build depth in those programs for the future vs some plastic trophies and bragging rights now.

Didnít see any of the games live, but Bombers Gaines made an impressive run this weekend taking out HP and taking ST to 10 innings. At least this weekend they seem among the top teams even at 60/90.

Smartense has had the most success this season but I saw HP for the first time this weekend and I think they are the team to beat. LOADED. EC Astros Navy now that they have all the top kids on a team is for real just had a tough schedule this weekend playing HP in pool and Smartense in game 1 of bracket.

Seems to be a drop after that but Bombers might have something to say about that.
