Gentleman,
Bandit Hawk is right. Seems some are getting restless with no baseball going on and a few weeks until football starts.
Why are you getting into a "My _____ is bigger than your ______" type of conversation?
Lets all remember that these are 9 and 10 year old little boys who are all exceptionally talented athletes. All of us involved in the sport need to be working together to develop these kids baseball talents and more importantly to mentor and mold them into young men that will be the leaders of tomorrow.
We all have ego's, all want to be a part of a winner.....but in the end, we only have a few short years with these kids and then our job is complete. During the off season, I challenge all of us (coaches, parents, etc.) to take personal inventory of why we are involved with these kids and travel baseball and to honestly assess if we are doing it for the right reasons.
I hope you all have a great fall and look forward to seeing you in Feb on the diamond.

Well said Coach Boyer. Success can be measured in many different ways. I will take the boys becoming respectful, disciplined young men with positive attitudes over a win/loss record any day. That is our job as parents/coaches. |

Leebegbaseball I agree concerning the 2011 10u ECB astros. I'm curious do you think the new 2011 10u astros will be another 9u team playing up in the 10 year old tournaments like the 2010 8u ECB longhorns did? |

Attended 15U ECB tryouts this past weekend, and spent some time watching two 10U teams (Yankees & Astros) practicing on the smaller fields below us (they were side by side on different fields). The Yankees look very impressive, as if I was watching a high school team practicing rather than 10 year olds. Strong players and what looked like extraordinary coaching. Astros were more of a beginner team, and I agree with Lee regarding their coaching approach. There was definitely a noticable difference with the two teams' coaching. |

OTC looked strong this weekend at the Nations tourney @ ATPP. Most teams playing looked rusty at best but OTC manhandled a good Oxford Orioles team 17-1 in the semis and SARTA Lions 13-3 in the finals. |

ATPP is working on it's schedule for 2011 and would be willing to host a GA 10u Best of the Best Challenge. We could host it the 1st weekdend of March while everyone is fresh from the off season. We could take the Top 16 for this 10u SmackDown. Anyone willing to take the challenge? |

1st weekend in March is Forsyth County Slugfest and several 10U top teams played there last year. |

Mill Creek Ga Blues Home Plate Adcock scorpions Valdosta Otc Bearcats West Forsyth Just a few that I saw that could compete. There are probably lots more but I felt like these teams could be lower tier major or upper tier AAA this year. How many teams will(or should) be in the 10U major division?? |

Since the Slugfest does such a great job, we figured they would not miss 16 teams from there huge lineup. Maybe we back it down to the Top 12 if that's the concesus. If all 12/16 teams accept the invitation to play, we will only charge each team a $225 entry with $50 going to the charity the Slugfest supports. The ATPP tournament would allow the top 12/16 to square off with the best from the get go. |

Watch out for the 10U Bearcats. They have combined with the EP Mets Select. They look pretty solid, at least for the Fall. Not to sure what will come with Spring 2011. I have heard they have lost the star pitcher due to shoulder issues at least for the Fall. When he returns in the Spring they will be something to reckon with. |

The pitcher mentioned in the post above will be back along with a couple of other players that also pitch that decided to take the Fall off. Team should be real solid and have more depth after combining with EP Mets. Should be interesting come Spring 2011. |

I've always thought this team has good talent and if they have improved their roster why sign up as a AAA team and not Major? Is it to play in more tournaments to win and avoid the top teams? Or is just the ability to play in more tournaments without having to look all over the place? |

We signed up as AAA to avoid having to look all over the SE for tournaments. That is the only reason we are AAA. Major tournaments are way too hard to come by. We will not avoid any team. You only get better playing the best competition. Wins are nice but that is not the only reason we are playing. |

Nothing to say whatsoever but this age group discussion forum was showing little activity for the last few days so by entering this post it changes the date to make it look like we in the 10U divisions have something to talk about. :) |

How bout some game/tournament results and game recaps from some of these 'top 10' teams? I know some of them, if not all have played some tournaments this fall. |

I read about other age groups being watered down and not enough Major Teams, that is not the case in this age group. Yes, we have alot of teams but we also have alot of strong teams. There are 10-15 teams this year that can win any tournament they enter which should make every team that much better. I'll take a shot at a preview.
1. Yarddogs - Best team in the state past (3) years. 2. ECB Longhorns - Picked up strong pitching and good bats, is this the year? 3. ECB Yankees - Lost some, picked up some. Should be interesting. 4. OP Sharks - Are they going to be able to add a couple of players to take the next step? 5. Covington Sting - Want to see them play the best more often. 6. Acworth Warriors - Lots of talent, can they take the next step? 7. Ringgold Tigers - nice run at WS, hope to see them play the big tournaments more as well. 8. Signature Park - Good talent and have played together for some time. 9. OTC - same as Signature Park 10. 643 Cougars - 5 new players and well coached, will it come togther?
Other teams to watch.
Atlanta Blue Jays - when they are all there they can play with anyone. Elite Gamers Red - nice run in the WS, can they make an impact this year? Georgia Blues - nice team with good talent, well coached. Georgia Red Sox - fun to watch with talent. Mill Creek Hawks - this team can hit with anyone. Kennesaw Generals - well coached and talented. Georgia Braves - are they going to move up this year?
I'm sure I missed some but just looking at the teams above this should be a fun year - now can we get all these teams together and play a tournament let's say at East Cobb, that would be fun to watch! They could charge a nice gate fee.
The SARTA Lions and South Paulding Xplosion, both out of Dallas, are as good as or better than about 3/4 of the teams listed here. Both were already very good hitting teams, but picked up several impact players, and can now pitch with just about anybody. I don't forsee any national championships out of either of them this year, but I guarantee both teams will be making life hard for everyone at the AAA level, as well as many of the teams at the major level. |

Looks Like we might get to see them on Sunday at hidden valley. Do they(SARTA & Explosion) have their full roster coming this weekend? We will be a couple short, but hope to compete well.
P.S. Probably still a little early to talk about knocking off the top teams. From what I hear they have also improved their rosters and will be extremely tough this year. Beating them in a game or so maybe, but to have the pitching depth to compete in a complete tourny is gonna be a challenge for all of us. |

Walk off Bunt - no disrespect, but not even close. All 10 of the teams on the polls are better than both SARTA Lions and South Paulding. Which teams were you referring to? I would say 643, maybe from last year (had they not improved), but noting their rebuilt roster, I can't see either of your teams competing with any of the teams on that list. |

I can't speak for the Lions, and I'm not 100% sure who Walk off Bunt is associated with, but I do know that the Lions beat the OTC Bearcats 11-3 recently. The only team on that list that the Xplosion has played so far this fall is the Signature Park Falcons. We played them a few weeks ago in a Nations tournament in Winder and beat them 9-8. We also beat the Signature Park Storm, and they are a pretty good team in their own right. |

I'll stick with my top ten for now, but it's early. I can't see the Lions or Xplosion beating 3/4's of the teams on the list but we will all see come spring where they stand. |

SARTA beat OTC in pool and lost to them in bracket. Also lost to them in Nations Tourn. 13-3. Beating a team once in a pool game does not constitute a better team. Nothing Personal, but to be in the top ten you must be able to beat the others on a consistent basis, Its baseball and anything can happen in a single game. |

You're arguing with the wrong person. The Xplosion and Lions aren't affiliated, and I do not speak for them. I do see all the Xplosion games, but I didn't see any of the Lions games, just the scores. I make no claims as to what team is better than any other one. Especially seeing as how they're 10 and still prone to all sorts of inconsistent nonsense on any given day. |
