What a waste of time to be even talking about teams at this time of year.
The rosters now are not what they will be in the spring. Players will change teams, move away, teams will replace players, etc. We have parents complaining about the cost of Cooperstown next June so instead of adding a kid at the last minute we will replace kids now.
Kids are playing football, soccer, etc and come to games late or tired. The pitcher is also a quarterback and played for 2 hours throwing a football and then shows up to pitch and has no control, etc.
Some teams are not even practicing in the fall/winter and won't be back together till February.
Teams are playing with fill-ins or short handed.
Complete waste of time......................

Not arguing just showing the record. Agree that the fall is not a good time to look at teams but can't help myself. My son is playing rec soccer and it is absolutely miserable. I am not a soccer fan anyway, but the lack kids that can simply run and kick a ball is ridiculous. I am sooo ready for baseball to start. Maybe next year he goes back to football or something else in the fall. Sorry if I offended any soccer fans, it is good exercise but thats about it.

good Luck to all the 10u teams this weekend, we are coming shorthanded Sunday but should be a fun day.

I'm not really 'affiliated' with either team. I know some of the parents and players from the Lions and Xplosion, and have seen both teams practice and play before and after the roster changes this fall. I get around to a LOT of tournaments and see a lot of teams, and have a pretty good idea about how competitive these two teams will be this year. I'm mostly basing my comments on the talent of the players on these two teams right now, and obviously can't speak to the roster changes that may or may not take place before spring. But I can say confidently that right now, talent-wise, these teams can match up with just about anybody.

Looks Like we might get to see them on Sunday at hidden valley. Do they(SARTA & Explosion) have their full roster coming this weekend? We will be a couple short, but hope to compete well.

I don't know about the Lions, but I assume we (Xplosion) will have at least 9 or 10 suited up. Some of our players play football or go out of town or various other stuff on weekends, but hopefully we'll have most everybody since it's a Sunday only tournament.

I would agree. We've had very limited practice time and only a partial team when we do practice. The outcome of most games in the fall aren't going to be indicative of how the spring may go.

Are the Lions or Xplosion going to play in the TC Fall State?

Congrats Gamers.

IMHO none of the teams this weekend looked like top ten teams. Saw some talented players, but also saw lots of defensive errors, ect. Mostly looked rusty and will probably look better in spring. Great weather, great day with the kids but the baseball needs to improve.

PS. Pitcher for the Explosion showed lots of toughness and heart to get back in the game after taking a hard hit ball to the face. Hope all is ok. He could play for me anytime.

Thanks War Eagle. I am the father of the pitcher that you mentioned and he is doing fine. He is pretty swollen and bruised, but he is doing well after taking that hit. Was a proud father seeing him only sit out an inning and get back into the game. Surprised, but still very proud of him!!!

Definitely a lot of rust.....not much hitting and several unearned runs, but I suspect most haven't been on the field much. I know we haven't. Was very proud of our pitcher. He took a very scary moment and turned it into a very inspiring performance.

Calling all 10u coach's who think they are one of the best or want to play one of the best. I am going to give all ages what they want and that's a MAJOR tournament for all the best teams in GA ,AL ,FL ,TN ,SC ,NC and whoever else wants to come. See my post on the tournament site "Battle of the Best NIT" for details.

Went down and watched a friend's son from 643 scrimmage the OP Sharks yesterday and was impressed with this team - a lot of pitching and played very good defense. Some very big athletic kids. It will be interesting to see what they can do come spring. Sharks looked good as well, very well coached team.

Yeah , I hear 643 should be good this year . They could surprise a lot of teams. I still don't think that they are top 10 material though !

I hear you Richv, it was a scrimmage and OP didn't seem to have all their players but their core group seemed to be there. I was going off last year OP being one of the top teams and when I left 643 was up I think 11-5 and looked very strong but who knows things change. I will say I was most impressed with both coaching staffs, very positive with the boys and always teaching.

Anyone know where the Yankees where this fall? In the past they have played a couple of fall TC tournaments.

I had the pleasure of seeing the Yankies practice several times at the ECB complex and we (Atlanta Bluejays and 6-4-3-C) were scheduled to play a three way scrimmage with them but they didn't make it that Sunday.

I would guess they had too many footballers to work around.

Of course I'm not aware of all the teams off season pick ups or losses but I'm going to give this a shot. Maybe top eight or so but my original top five major picks in the other thread was based on the teams listed in USSSA as being Major at that time and there were only a few teams there then. Now it's loaded it looks like.

Yard Dogs
ECB Longhorns
Covington Sting
ECB Yankees
OTC Bearcats
Acworth Warriors
Gamers Red Elite
Ringgold Tigers
OP Sharks

That's about as deep as I'm willing to go here. I just want to see some good baseball from all of the teams to be honest with you. We definately don't fall short in the talent department in Georgia for sure.
