Since the other post is no longer about the tournament I thought I would start one. Mill Creek taking down a very good OTC team. I have seen Mill Creek a couple of times and they are one of the best hitting 10 year old teams around. It looks like there should be some great matchups on Sunday |

Mill Creek took down the #11 seeded OTC Bearcats? Wow. Eastside run-ruled them as well. Mill Creek isn't a bad team, but is yet to see the better teams. |

bigger surprise is that OTC was the #11 seed. Weren't people mentioning them as one of the best in the nation? Tough start to the Spring. Will have to improve defense and get those bats going to re-enter that conversation. North Cobb Warriors are also highly regarded and had 2 tough match ups in pool play. Congrats to the ECB Titans for knocking them off in bracket play. Expected to see the Warriors face off against the Yankees tomorrow. Bats seem cold.
Some good games possible tomorrow. Can't wait.

An OTC Bearcat coach/dad standing behind me at Sandy Plains February Frost last week said he was "unimpressed" with the EC Yankees and "couldn't wait to rabbit stomp them" at ATPP this week. That match up is still a possibility Sunday at 3:15pm. OTC made themselves a tough road to get there but would like to see them try. I'm betting it's Mill Creek that meets the Yankees at 3:15. |

Is anybody highly regarded until they take the field? North Cobb went 0-3, and didn't look good. |

Titans almost brought down the mighty Yankees today. They lost a heartbreaker 9 to 8. In my book, Titans outplayed them. |

Congrats to OP Sharks. Nobody says much about them but I have watched them and coached against them since they were 6U and have a lot of respect for their approach to the game. 643 as well. This weekend proves that none of us have a clue how ten year olds will play week to week and that there is a bunch of talent at this level. It will be an exciting year of 10u baseball |

Hey Congrats to The Oregon Park Sharks Winning the TC Spring Frost over 6-4-3 DP in the finals 6-3! They knocked off a good Mill Creek team to get there and 6-4-3 took care of the Yankees in the Semi's 7-4. The weather was great all weekend and it was good to see the boys back on the field.
Tuff weekend for the Diamond Dogs, North Cobb and OTC but all showed they have talent to compete, it will be interesting to see what adjustments are made by all prior to the next tournament. |

Congrats to the OP Sharks, and to Mill Creek and the teams that took care of business that "weren't supposed to be there". Some of these results don't surprise me in the least. I can't help but LMAO at the "experts" and some of their pre-season predictions for this year's 10U division. |

Hillio - everyone had EC, OP, Mill Creek and 643 (final 4) doing well this weekend, North Cobb and OTC struggled but for the most part looks like most where right on? I guess the surprise to some was not seeing the Yankees in the final and maybe the loss of some pitching hurt them but they are a good team and will be back. |

Guess that EASY AND GOLDEN ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP team that all of you were talking about, did not even make it to the finals? Just amazes me how we are so early in the season and everyone is ready to hang me for making a schedule. Let the kids play and win it on the field! Find better things to do with your time. Things like hitting ground balls, throwing to your kid in the cage, or even (god forbid) take your kid and some of the kids from the team you are all talking about out to Chuck-e-Cheese for some good times!
Said my peace!

Tony,
Up to this point, this blog was very positive and limited to the results of your tournament. I am disappointed that you saw fit to add a post like this at this time. You and Donnie did a great job this weekend and now you sound like you're being petty.
Thanks everyone for the congrats and congrats to 643 on a great championship game. I also want to thank the coaches of all the teams we played. There was a lot of good baseball this weekend. I thought it was a great tournament with a lot of great teams. I'm really amazed at the level of talent in our age group. Every game we played this weekend was full of really talented players and very well coached. This age group is very deep and great to be a part of. I am really looking forward to the season.

I saw all of the teams play, and stand behind my rankings that Yankees are top 3 in the state. No matter what game you watched, their pitching was strong. It's why you lace them up and step on the field...you never know what might happen. This post should stay about OP though, as they earned that respect this weekend. They played great. I look forward to that OP-Yankees matchup. |

Triple crown
I was not refering to any tournament or team in particuar. Just happened to be yours others were discussing. Still say schedules should be random and there is no chance of bias (neither real or perceived). then the teams can "truly" win it on the field. |

Tony - If we see the same thing happen next tournament AGAIN you will hear this same talk all over. Getting the love in pool play doesn't always equal the big trophy come Sunday but it doesn't hurt. The point is everyone would like to see some balance in the pools, I would think you could understand.
Oh and ditto to the other points you made in your post so lets not make this a topic next tournament I'm sure no one wants to rehash this mess. |

My comment was aimed at the predictions for the season in general, and not necessarily this tournament. My comment would still stand even if this tournament had never happened. |

I do not know Tony and We have never played in GA. But I can give you some insight to the way Tournaments are ran in CA. They are HORRIBLE!! ALL the ORG. in Calif only care about 1 thing MONEY!! The one thing all these TD and Org. keep forgeting that we are their Customers. They sometimes forget that we pay a lot of money to play in these tournaments. In Calif it cost approx $600 a tourney. What has happened out here is most of the TOP teams play in Local Teams Fundraising tournament and only play in Utrip,TC and USTSA's big events. Here in Calif there is only 1 TD that listens to his Customers..That is Erik Ezell with AAU. He runs the best tournaments on the west coast.
Tony just a piece of advise..Listen to your Customers. It is obvious there is an issue here and if you don't address it in a proffesional manner you might not have any customers.

No problem, I misunderstood since your post was under the Spring Frost thread. |

Shouldn't get so defensive Tony. You were called out by someone who thinks you favor the Longhorns and Yankees. Just look at your past tournaments and if his call is correct then fix it going forward. If he's wrong then keep doin' what you're doin'. We'll all see how the TC pools are filled going forward and make our own minds up. If favoritism is happening, we'll take our money elsewhere and the 4 or 5 pet teams can duke it out in TC tourneys while the others play elsewhere. It's a business, right? |

TC Tony V. - I don't know if you have or have had a kid that plays ball but the comments about the veracity of the scheduling just goes to illustrate how passionate those of us who do have kids playing now are and the many challenges that we face in addition to preparing our kids to play at their highest level. After expending so much effort and so many resources, we want good fair scheduling, we want competent umps, we want well maintained fields, we want tournament fees and park entrance fees that are reasonable; we want a lot and if you can provide that, we'll be glad to support you and what you do.
If you been in the travel ball game in Atlanta and Georgia for any time now, you'll know that many of us aren't satisfied with what some of the other tournament organization do, and that's probably why your here in Atlanta and you know we simply won't participate in some other organization's events.
The vast majority appreciate your events, the level of competition and want you to do everything you can do in order to make your events attractive even from the stand point of NOT even having a perceived pattern or appearance of impropriety when it come scheduling.
Sincerely |

BIG, BIG Congrats to Oregon Park on a tremendous showing in the TC Spring Frost. WOW, that's the way to come out of the box; hard and fast.
I only saw the Friday night game, but I really like that young man on the mound; He handled his business. And the bats were poppin...marvelous job for sure.
And to Mill Creek, we need you! Great brand of baseball and good fundementals.
And to the Yankees, it must be fun to be the BIG dog knowing we're all coming at you with our best; game after game. And thanks for sharing you're insites, it's always good to chat with you all between games.
And to 6-4-3, we expected you to do well and you did, we know you're prepared and we know you love the game...And again, thanks Coach D.P. for always extending yourself to help other that aren't on your team.
Now on to the SLUGFEST! |
