I just wanted to congratulate the Hurricanes for their 1st place finish in the AAA Super NIT tournament. We (Georgia Blues) won some close games today but came up short in the final against the Canes. Really enjoyed the competition and sportsmanship from everyone today.

I haven't seen many of the AAA teams but I'll take the Blues or the Hurricanes.
Good call on this one as the GA Blues and GA Hurricanes battled it out for the ship; with the Canes prevailing over a solid GA Blues squad, 5-3.
Looks like the Canes have racked up 4 1st place tourny finishes in 4 tournys. I guess its time for them to step up to the next level of competition. I don't think they can get anything out of playing AA ball.
Another GREAT job Canes. |

Look above your post, they won the NIT AAA tourney. Also, they were challenged by a couple AA teams in the battle at the branch the prior week.
They are solid, seem to be the talk of the town in this age group. |

I enjoyed a great weekend of baseball. Saw several quality games in the Major bracket on Saturday and early Sunday. Went to watch the AAA games Sunday afternoon; Hurricanes are just flat well coached. They do all the things that win baseball games. I do not believe the have a roster for Major baseball. Tough gritty kids, but still missing a few parts. The coaching I saw from them again on Sunday was very impressive. Hats off to the Longhorns played a difficult schedule and came out on top ~ Great Job against some of the best in the Nation! |

Like ecb11 I also enjoyed watching a great weekend of baseball. The Major bracket was very well stacked with talent and the top four teams battled all day. However I was able to watch some of the AAA finals game with Georgia Blues vs. Hurricanes and although they don't have the "major" talent as mentioned they are as defensively sound a team as I have seen this year. One thing I also noticed is that they are very deep in pitching and will be interesting to see how they continue to progress as the season moves forward. Also congrats to all the teams competing in the NIT and how the Georgia teams really protected home turf!!
Great job kids and coaches! |

I really thought Oregon Park would be more competitive in the Super NIT. Looks like they have hit a rough stretch in their last couple of tournaments. |

Going, don't agree. OP was great and is an incredible team, but look at that insane pool that they were in. OTC took out Longhorns last week and are a strong group (yet they go 0-3??). Carolina Cubs a top 15 team, eventually losing a super game to Longhorns 2-1. ECB Yankees put a good pitcher on the mound every time they played this year, and have somehow gone to under-rated in status (still one of the tops in state). I picked Carolina because of their pitching, but know that OP makes the bracket, and possibly goes far, had they been in any other pool. All 4 teams needed to use much of their pitching to even think about bracket play. |

What a great tournament, we're happy we made the trip win or lose as it was great competition all weekend. Congratulations to the EC Longhorns! You are a well coached, classy and all around outstanding team. In my opinion, the lefty #7 is definitely one of the top 10u pitchers in the country. All the best this spring and summer!

I think you have to look at who OP had the last two weekends. 2 weeks ago they had the Horns who got them pretty good, they played the Yard Dogs tough and 6-4-3 had to come from behind in extras. This past weekend they had a tough pool, the Cubs may have been the 2nd or 3rd best team there and the Yankees had to come from behind late to win. I think they are solid and have talent to beat anybody.
I was most surprised North Cobb didn't make it to Sunday after their win at the Blue Jays tournament. |

I agree, they have been playing some very tough competition. I just figured that they would win at least some of them. I heard that against the Yankees, they were dominating until they took their ace pitcher out. After that, they really struggled and the Yankees started killing the ball against their number 2 pitcher. It looks to me like OP just doesn't have the pitching depth that the other top teams have. |
