The first weekend after many kids return from Spring break (April 14-17), features Triple Crown’s most competitive tournament of the year. This tournament is loaded with Major teams and some good AAA teams that may spark a few upsets. It might not have all the teams from the NIT a few weeks back, but this will be a good one. List of teams (alpha sort):

I think everyone will be hoping to be on the opposite side of the bracket than the Longhorns, they seem to be rolling now with pitching, defense and hitting.
The rest are a toss up with 643, Yankees, OP, NC, Wills Park, Mll Creek and Sig Park. I could see any of these teams making it to the ship depending on the draw. But maybe someone will surpise us? |

Anyone have an idea which field(s) will be hosting the 10U division? According to the TC website ECB, ATPP, Adcock Field and Barnett Park are the parks that are going to be used, but there is no mention of which age groups are going to be playing where.

I wish the Longhorns would have stayed and played in the 10U. There are a lot of 10U teams that would like a shot at playing them. From what I can tell, the only 10U tournaments they played in was the Blue Jays Classic and NIT.
There are 25 teams listed AA – 2 teams AAA - 7 teams Major - 16 teams
Looks to be a great tournament.

I agree. Not to take anything away from the 11U teams, but this year the 10U division probably would be just as tough if not tougher for them than playing up at 11U. |

I am sure it is nothing against the other 10u teams. The Longhorns are taking the same path many EC teams do. Win a big one and go play up. I have seen it at 10,11,12,13,14 for last 5 years.
I am sure they have a little to prove after last 11u tournament!!!! |

This tournament is wide open with 5-7 teams that could win it! I will like most be curious to see how the pools set up. |

I see Ringgold is on the waiting list. I hope they get in, the more better teams entered the better. |

I must say the pools look very balanced, nice job TD! I see Ringgold got in and that's great for this tournament - this is tough but I'll take Ringgold vs 643 in the ship with Ringgold winning it. |

Tough call. A lot of good quality teams playing here. In addition, there are some AAA teams that may produce an upset or two. Agree with baseballnutz on the scheduling. The negative to scheduling is the local teams all play each other on Thursday-Friday. It is what it is and that's a product of location, location, location. They've all beat up on each other lately. Let's see how things shape up after Pool play. No Bye's here, you have to win 4 in bracket play. So every team has to cover 6 games of pitching. |

Agreed. We just played an 11u tournament and our team hit better than we have hit all year as a team. I felt most of the pitching we saw was solid.
Does the increased pitching distance vs increased velocity benefit the batter or pitcher on avg. I think alot of 10U major pitchers are throwing about as hard as 11 year old pitchers. If My math is correct a 5mph difference in speed makes the batters reaction time equal. Do pitchers gain more or less than 5mph from 10-11??? Depending on the answer to the questions above, playing up may actually have a negative impact on hitters that play up and then have to move back to 46'. |

Based on the 11u pitching that I've seen, I would say that it would definitely slow down the bats of a 10u team. I would think that the extra 4 feet might also make a difference to a pitcher trying to move back to the shorter distance. |

Only complaint so far is using auxiliary fields (Oregon Park) and letting that team play on their own field. I see the need for the auxiliary fields but the TD should move OP and have them play on a different field. Shouldn't do that with the main venue, in this particular tourney thats East Cobb, but its simple enough to move th teams who own the aux fields. |

Why? I see no difference between OP playing on their own field, and ECB or anyone else playing on theirs. There's no way to keep everyone from playing on their home field, so IMO no effort should be made to keep anyone from doing so. At the same time no extra effort should be made to let a team play on their home field. If a team draws a pool game in their own park, so be it. |

Why is there ONE game being played all the way up at Midway (in bracket play for the gold bracket)? Not exactly in the neighborhood. 4 bagger - no games are being played for the 10's at East Cobb for this tourney and OP is playing at home because they get to run the tournament out of their park and bank a little gate fee money. Same with Larry Bell (643's park). They provide the labor to get the fields ready and this gives the parents a chance to watch their kids play at the same time. |

4bagger - Not sure the advantage to be had playing at home field unless they don't charge their own fans a gate fee. Pretty sure those OP folks will turn out whether @ OP, Larry Bell, Adcock or ATPP.
Looks like OP is only playing 1 of 2 pool games @ OP. Is OP Field #2 the smaller one where kid from ECB Astros hit grandslam in fall tourney?
643 DP is playing both pool games @ Larry Bell (their home until recent move to Aviation Park).
ECB may be main venue for overall tournament but none of the 10U games are scheduled there. |

Adcock Field is in Holly Springs not Midway. Closer than Forsyth, but you're right, not exactly in the same neighborhood.

Hey Hillio, you have been wanting to play some of the top major teams this season. Looks like you got your wish in the Backyard Brawl with matchups against ECB Yankees and Mill Creek Hawks. That's a pretty tough pool draw....
This tournament has a very impressive field and there are going to be some good teams that find themselves in the Silver bracket.
There could be a lot of fireworks in the games at Oregon Park if they play on those short fields.
Hopefully, we can have a full weekend of good weather!! |

Game 32 all by itself on the bracket that states Midway at 8 p.m. The 6th seed vs. 11 or 12. Is this a typo? Anyone see the pick three numbers last night for the lotto. They were 643. Is it a sign? ha ha |

I'll take Mill Creek and Signature Park in the ship with Mill Creek winning it all (without seeing bracket).
Go Gwinnett! |

Sorry about that. Guess brackets changed since yesterday morning. Copy I printed had game 32 @ Adcock. Midway would be a really weird location for this tournament. Hopefully this is mistake and will be corrected?

Go Gwinnett!
I could see it happening - both are solid teams. MC is going to have a tough time with a tough pool draw, they'll have to use pitching to make it and then play 4 to win it. Tough! |

You aren't kidding. That's as tough a draw as we've had since we drew the Longhorns and Signature Park Falcons in the Slugfest. Our boys like a challenge, and usually play their best when facing good teams. Win or lose, I'm really looking forward to seeing how they respond in these games. Of course mother nature will have to cooperate, as there are storms in the forecast for both Fri and Sat. 60% chance of rain Friday afternoon, 90% Fri night. 50% chance on Sat. I expected nothing less.
