Mill Creek seems to always get tough pool draws in the TC tournaments. I'm going to have to have a talk with Tony and Donnie this weekend ... |

You're right Lefty, didn't think about the gate fee issue. I know at 10U home field means little but still, just doesn't look right. So ECB teams pay all that money, even at 10U, and hardly ever get to play a tourney at their home field. Somethin just wrong about that. |

BaseballReady, not sure which field is the smaller of the two. ECB Astros had a second kid hit a GS at the Hobgood tourney two weeks ago and yet a third kid hit a 2 run shot at Larry Bell then he hit 2 off the fence at Adams Park large field this past weekend. They darn near beat the EC Yankees this past weekend leading 3-1 into the bottom of the 6th when they made one or two small errors that cost them the game. They looked pretty good but they will need to hang with those big teams more consistently and not make those late game errors that lead to losses. I think alot of people were surprised this past weekend........... |

Don't know, missed that one. I was watching the Scorpions tonight and heard yelling at the other field. Seems the Astros had yet another kid, different than the others above, hit a 3 run shot out of the park. They were beating OP Sharks 7-2 when the rains came. |

With that being said, Go Gwinnett!
Go Mill Creek and Signature Park! Good luck to all on Sunday! |

There were some really good games at Oregon Park Saturday night. The OP Sharks came back from a 7-2 deficit to beat the EC Astros 12-7.
EC Yankees beat Mill Creek 4-3 in 7 innings.
SP Xplosion beat the EC Yankees in a very close 11-10 game. (Big grand slam by SP was the difference)
Looks like there should be some good matchups on Sunday. |

Those games at OP were pretty high scoring. I figured there would be a lot of fireworks playing on 170ft fields. I managed to get out and see a little bit of Sandy Plans - ECB Astros and a little bit of Kennesaw - Scorpions before the marquee matchup between ECB Yankees and Mill Creek Hawks. Saw a 175ft pop-fly homerun in the Astros game. I can only imagine how many homeruns are hit in Cooperstown at 12u. That Yankees - Mill Creek game was worth the price of admission all by itself. It got so cold that I couldnt stick around for the SPX - Yankkes game. Sorry I missed that one because it sounded like a great game!! |

Speaking of IMPRESSIVE, man-o-man can those Covington Sting swing the bat.
After a fast start besting Gamers Blue 15-3 in pool play, the Sting went down to a hungry HomePlate ChiliDog team 9-5 in the 2nd round of pool play.
But the Sting, showing tremendous resiliency, a number of arms, and an all out love affair with fastballs battled back to beat the Gamers Red in 8 innings and the Nationally ranked 10u GA Yarddogs Blk 9-8 in the ship.
The Yarddogs got to the ship after beating the Auburn Stixx who pulled off a dramatic last inning comeback win over the "STILL" hungry ChiliDogs erasing a 5-2 deficit to win 6-5.
Congrats to the Covington Sting for winning it all and the Yarddogs for getting to the ship and putting on a power hitting display to be remembered. |

Considering how much rain fell from the sky Friday night and the conditions of the fields Saturday morning - hats off to each individual park for putting in the elbow grease to make sure we had baseball this weekend for this tournament. Congrats to NC Warriors on the win over a very tough Ringgold team. It goes to show us all that 10U baseball is very strong in the State of Georgia and that there is no need to play up an age level to find good competition. |

Congrats to North Cobb Warriors great run. Ringgold Baseball Factory got out of their "Bubble" and made a nice run. They are a very scary team. Not taking anything away from NC Warriors, but why does the #1 seed have to play four straight games without a break? Just wonder if that would have made a difference in the championship game? |

6-4-3 was hanging around at 11pm Sat night in the cold to play a 3 innning make up game that got called, did that make a difference Sunday? Who knows and I don't care because the way NC was playing this weekend I don't think it would have made any difference. |

NC had to play in Cumming Sat night @ 9:30 didn't seem to bother them. My point was for thegoat, every team that played this weekend with the schedule could make an excuse for their play. Which would be more difficult if you had to play 4 to win a ship in one day? Start at 10am with bp at 8:45 with the ship at 6:30pm or go 4 straight starting at noon with bp at 10:45? |

This was an unfair tournament. The TD should know these teams well enough by now to correctly balance the pools. The teams that advanced in this tournament didn't have to use their pitching early. They are very good teams, but it's a huge advantage. 643 ends up having to use their pitching as a 4 seed becuase the Yankees and Mills Creek are matched up together. Ringgold and North Cobb didn't use anybody, and then had the benefit of an OP upset. Ringgold gets to face Mills Creek after they get their pitching depleted by an underrated Yankee team and very rested Mudcat team. Then they face 643 AFTER 643 battles the Yankees and Wills Park. It's one thing if everybody is going to be loaded into the same bracket, but entirely something different when teams have to use up their pitching due to the gold/silver set up. Congratulations to the Warriors, you won, but there are MANY who believe that there are easily 6-8 other teams who would have won this tournament had they had your schedule. |

Gohornets, I mean no disrespect to you but I don't understand this attitude really. I'm sure that no matter how the pools were set up, someone would complain that it could have been done better. My son plays for Mill Creek and I thought that our pool draw was pretty tough but would not complain about it. Our boys play at this level to learn and get better. They battled hard this weekend and competed well in all of their games except the Ringgold game. Hats off to the Ringgold team for taking it to us. It's tough to lose like that but our boys will grow and learn from it.
Regarding the North Cobb Warriors, I just don't think that it's sportsmanlike to try and take anything away from their tournament victory. They, just like every other team, played who was put in their path. They came out on top and deserve a tip of the cap for doing so. We played them in the Super NIT and they are a very solid team.
I do think that there is a lot of parity within the 10u age group though. There are many teams that could have won this tournament. |

Gohornets - I'll agree NC had an easy draw in brackets but that was based off pool play and the pools looked balanced. They caught a break when Kennesaw played a very clean game and upset OP but that's going to happen. Don't take anything away from what NC did this weekend, they dominated everyone they faced! |

gohornets,
Any one can argue about anything, and many teams could win/lose depending on the day. Cudda/shudda/wudda. Congrats to the winners and move on. If you really feel like u can beat them, find where they are playing the next tournament and sign up. |
