strong group of teams but they are only taking the top 50% in double elimination, with so many teams will they play games on the smaller fields? Going with the Rays vs. Astros in ship.

The format for the tourney and matchups will make things interesting. The Astros/Braves will have the less difficult schedule with all the points they have accumulated. The Rays will have to use some pitching in pool to get to the top 50% based on the current list. However that could change if a team is added. I wouldnt expect to see many roster additions this week as we did in TC last week. Also the usssa pitching rules will change the strategy a little. Look for Braves/Astros/Loghorns/Rays/RbaTitans to be in the running. Their is also a single elimination bracket for those that do not make the top 50% and their will be some great matchups there as well. |

Really
There are only 2 AAA teams in this tourney and the Braves are playing them both in pool play.
I've never fed into the ECB conspiracy theories before but this is tough to ignore in a tournament where only the top 50% move on.

based on points both astros and braves are #1 & #2 so both would play the bottom 2 which are the AAA teams. looks like it was done right, there are some great match ups in pool though, RBA, Longhorns, Chilidogs, select red, gamers, grays & Rays all play each other so some could be 1-1 after pool.

Not only are the Braves playing both the AAA teams but so are the Astros. Pretty much a lock for the top seeds in the double elimination bracket. Really feel for those two teams that got the shaft by having to play that pool schedule!! |

Unfortunately the usssa single pool guidelines require this matchup. So at least no conspiracy this time. The only issue I can see is that with utrip pitching rules-- It is definitely an advantage to play on Wednesday or Thursday and have a day off. We play both pool games on Friday and if we use best pitching on Friday to make the top bracket then our best pitchers couldnt pitch at all on Saturday and still be available for Sunday. This means elimination is most likely on Saturday considering that you will play 2-4 games. The Spartans have a tough pool no doubt but would be set up nicely for bottom bracket since they play Wednesday/Thursday and off until Saturday or possibly even Sunday if they are 11th seed. They would pretty much have all of their pitching available for weekend. |

thought this was double elimination and a 4 game guarantee, seeds 11-19 could only get 3 games if eliminated in their 1st consolation game. |

I believe the top bracket is double and bottom is single elimination so at least 4 teams at bottom will only be guarenteed 3 games. I remember last year they had consolation games added to guarentee 4 and no one wanted to show up for it so they probably just eliminated them. |

Seems that somebody has thought it through. Pool play for braves and Astros choose to play a little higher points to stay away from higher power rating from opposing team. Coincidence!? |

Looks like we have some early shockers; Longhorns get blown out by GSR 14-0, HPC puts 15 on GSR, RBA over Rays 10-2 and A's over Alpharetta Titans 7-6. |

What are the run rules in this tournament? How does game 1 (Astros vs Spartans) only go 3 1/2 innings in an 8-0 game. No way time limit could be up that quick. Does USSSA have an 8 after 4 rule? Spartans only show 3 innings pitched in the game and Astros show 4. |

saw one team added a player mid tournament that was frozen on another teams roster so was this team given special treatment? |

Why can't they update the site in a decent time? Some teams might have to be there at 8:00 for a 9:00 game and they can't seem to update scores quickly. |

how is that legal? usssa rules say you have to add them a day or two before the tournament starts not after.

Crazy lopsided pools. The way they were set up Georgia Select Red, Longhorns, Elite Gamers didn't even make it into the brackets. Instead Seeds 6-10 made it in. I would want my money back on this one. The teams that went 1-1 should be inverted. The ones that made it had one non competitive game. Triple Crown did a better job at this format. |

Win and you are in! Why would seeds 6-10 be any less deserving than anyone else? Those teams did not select the pools and played just as hard as anyone else to earn their seed. Why can't people just enjoy a wonderful weekend of baseball without bad mouthing other teams, tourney directors, etc.? You would really ask for money back because you had a competitive pool? Really? Unbelievable! |

No doubt the Triple Crown set up is designed to be more competitive. The pools are set up for the top teams to make it to the gold plus they have a silver and/or bronze bracket so that all teams have a chance to win some games and a bracket.
USSSA's state tourney is set up to reward teams that have played USSSA tourney's. It's really all about the money for those guys. So, depending on how many of their tourney's your team played and how you did, that's where you will be seeded before you even play a game. The weaker teams that make it to the championship bracket rarely win.
No doubt TC puts on a more competitive tourney, that's why you always see twice the number of teams in their tournaments.
No doubt the USSSA format could give the underdog a chance to win the Gold, but that rarely happens.
Besides, I am predicting that mother nature wins this one on Sunday... |

I am surprised the Home plate Chili Dogs lost to Columbia. Thought they were the team to beat. |

When the tournament says you are in or out on runs allowed alone and some teams played against a team that in which it was easy to score runs and then didn't need to exhibit strong defense it is unbalanced. A lot of teams went 1-1. The ones that played tough compitition didn't make it when they should have. They should all have continued on. We all know it. Just saying. |

Dude,
The obvious answer to that problem is to play defense. Control what you can. Pray about the rest. |
