Just dont think they have the same pitching depth as the claws. They have good pitching, but dont know if it can go deep into the well

so cal outlaws are a top 10 team nationally, tpx beating them would be a huge upset.

Bravesfan you are right about it being an upset but all that national ranking jive is just that jive and smoke and mirrors. The placements go to the teams that are touring the regions and the US and playing a ton of games. It would be better to rank the coaching as this is youth baseball and the difference between elite and average is closer than you think. Take that NYO Titan team in your back yard. You put them on a 100 game schedule and they may very well be the number one team in GA or the Nation. Upset smutset any of our local teams believe they can win when they are in the dugout no matter who is in the other one and I know the Georgia teams are the same way. They all play the game and never quit.
We heard TPX lost a close one and a heartbreaker as are watching for our sister team out of our park and and hearing from them about our local teams. Keep it up guys. Our sister team may cause and upset or two. You just never know at this level. Go GA and FL teams. |

Um BangTheBox...You are nowhere close on that post. If you watch the games you will see a clear delineation of the top talent. I saw Phenom play 6 games, and they made the Bomberz look like a Single A team in a hurry! They made the hard throwing pitcher from the Bomberz who has average control, look really bad. He was throwing strikes, just not hitting any spots, and they destroyed him (some bad pitch calling too, but I digress)
Lead off hitter hitting three jacks (legit) in the first inning, 11 hole guy hitting bombs like they are going out of style...The only thing Phenom is poor at is defense, but it doesn't matter when you score 20 runs and your pitcher throws 80+...And yes, haters, he throws 80+ with pinpoint control and a nasty curveball.
I know it is tough to believe, but the top teams in the country are legit, and they don't come from GA! |

Week #5 seems to be a very weak tournament. More like a A/AA tournament with a few AAA/Major teams thrown in. |

Phenom is a money ball team. The coach has been profiled on this board. A few years back they were all the rage and I know it is a different team now but they struggled with a team one year younger. You can build a national powerhouse. But in the end all you have is a slew of big, hard throwing kids. Nothin more nothin less. Oh yea and a bunch of parents living the game thru the kids.

bangthebox,
what is wrong with parents wanting to play on team phenom? if someone wants to build a national type team then more power to the parents who want to play on that team, it's not a bunch of parents living thru their kids. We can discuss the pros and cons but these guys are dominate and one of the top teams in the nation. Lets at least give em their props. |

The EC Diamondbacks beat TPX in pool 8-7, think TPX is only 2-2 so far.

The 80+ MPH comes from watching baseball and playing for 30 years...you can choose to ignore if you want. I thought my brother threw cheese at 12, and this kid makes him look slow. I also had a pitcher who could top out in the high 70's 1 out of 15 pitches, and this guy was faster 100% of the time. |

Hey, no reason to get all twisted. I was just curious if that was a true number from a half way decebt radar gun, or from word of mouth. I have seen several times where someone says this kid is throwing in the mid to high 70`s, and well the gun shows on a regular basis maybe 67-68.

Phenom is loaded, that coach catches a lot of hell but we played for a FLA team when my nephew was 9 and played against "evil" coach many times.....He is loud, he lets certain kids play for free, and he wins. Like it, love it, or hate it....he does things different than most but he doesn't do anything illegal(except he has kids that use the red bats....they are the devil) and he has an insane amount of money he feels comfortable spending on youth sports. My kid wouldn't play for him but I wouldn't slam his team because the 3-5 players we know from Phenom are great kids as well as great ball players. Personally I like the way Team Florida dominates(they do practice together) but stud teams are here to stay at every age group....17U EC team has a kid from Boston on it!!
I also can't figure why everybody thinks 80 is such a crazy number....there were a few Bandits kids who did it last year as well as MBA Pride kids. Personally saw stealth kid throw 80-81(Jugs gun Auburn Super NIT) and the kid from CF Gators throws 80 most everytime he gets on the bump. Down here at Grand Slam tourney in PC right now and there are two kids that throw 80....they are both 6ft + and at least 185, but they throw 80(Jugs gun and Stalker down here)..... |

Gamers in the semis but have a tough road to hoe with the Outlaws (CA). They made TPX look like a rec team. Need to throw number one to have a chance. TPX waited till it was too late to bring in a third pitcher who really kept them at bay. Must have been their ace. Was going between games so did not see all of any one but Gamers look confident. Time to upset a ranked team and put Ga on the map again. |

We tried to bring it home Ga Farmer but the Outlaws Black were in a different gear and we couldn't find that gear. Our big dogs were done for the day before we even got to the Outlaws. We still had pitching left just not the type of pitching to do anything with those bats. We didn't make it to the ship but we did make it to the final four. I was very proud of the way our young men battled all week. Georgia teams are getting close and hopefully someone can bring it home. For those going up in the future, try the Yum-Yum shack, Double Day Cafe and certainly hit Sal's Pizzeria on Main Street. The food is very good at all of the mentioned places but Sal's is the cheapest and very good. Will never forget this experience with my son and I hope all enjoy their upcoming trip to C'town with your families and your young men. Be safe and god bless the coaches who sacrifice the time to help create better ball players and better young adults and a special thanks to all parents who sacrifice something everyday(time.money,etc.) to make such things possible to make these types of things a reality for all young men who are fortunate enough to play. And let's not forget the support of our grandparents as well. It's second to none. |

Great job and Congrats on a great achievement. I think Georgia has shown that it is one of the top states for developing baseball players. California and Florida may pull together their top talent on less teams but Georgia has great talent an that will show up later. Look at the dominant conference in college baseball. California definitely has some great little league teams but development is not better. I'm originally from SC and keep up with both in state teams. Take a look at the Gamecocks roster and see where most of those kids are developed and they have two of the last three national champions. Oh no, we don't pull together all of the best players from Georgia to plays tournaments but development is there and when it is done right, Cooperstown won't be the prize that some of these boys are shooting for in the future. Good job Gamers! |

I agree this kid throws 80. We were also there week one, and watched him pitch. He looks like he is using very little effort and always seems to hit his spot. No matter what you think of the coaching style, you can't take it away from the kids. The kids do have talent. |

Yep the last weeks at Cooperstown have had clearly dominant teams save week 4. Georgia as gwinnett said is about development and not sacrificing trophys for development. Pound for pound the good ole Ga pumps out some great talent in the baseball world. |

Spot on bigslick. Very good team and very humble as well. I spoke with a couple of the parents, from the Outlaws, and they were very nice. Congratulations Outlaws!!! The umpires we had did a good job in my opinion. Some better than others but all around was good. The umpires I spoke with, had great personalities. They had a blast! The staff was very nice and would help someone without any hesitation. To all coaches, past/present/future, kudos to each and everyone of you that endure a week of barracks with a slew of young baseball players. My hat is tipped to you as I'm typing. My son's bags looked like 2 trains had hit head on when I opened them up and boy were his clothes smelly. He had a pair of shorts that stood in the corner and was prepared to fight before going into the washer. Ga Farmer & G'ball, thanks for your kind words and encouragement. A week of this will exhaust you. Our flight landed in the Atl. about 8 this morning and I'm not going to do a single thing today. You can call me good for nothing today!!!! And maybe tomorrow!

Maybe you got confused with week 4. Just got back from week 5 and there was alot of strong teams. Lost to Outlaws on Thursday, pitchers were out of gas and that team can flat hit from top to bottom of line up. Tied for 5th not too bad.

I feel ya rbr08. Did ya'll have any of those Outlaws hit the long ball onto the field behind center field? I think we had 2 or 3 of the Outlaws hit it over there. All I could say was nice shot as the batter was rounding the 1st base bag. I hope the TPX family/coaches/players held their heads high b/c the team went deep into ship day Thursday evening and finishing 5th is accomplishing something in my book. Congratulations!! |
