How much should you expect to pay to play on a 12u team that is AAA and not playing a fall tourney schedule???? How about paid vs unpaid and ECB / 643 vs Independent teams? Just trying to better educate myself going into tryout season as we are clueless on various team costs. Thanks |

You will save 500-1000 by going independent. That is what I found when I left 643, they stick you for field time and League fees, plus you have to buy the uniforms from them at a premium, baseballs, etc...
Here was my breakdown this year: AAA team. We played 3 tournaments and some games in the fall, went to cooperstown, played 8-10 NWBA games, plus most weekends until June 1st (started in Feb 18th), plus winter workouts of Every Sunday for 2 hours indoor in the winter, plus uniforms, plus Cooperstown Pins

I'll take a stab at this... There are so many variables.
$1400-$1800/Players Regular Season Assuming: 11 Tournaments, Baseballs, Misc Equipment, Uniforms, Registration fees, Instructions Fees, Website, Umpires, and Misc.
$1000/Player if you are heading to Cooperstown (Registration, Pins, Umpire, Share Coaches Fee, Misc). This may be the best experience nad fun your son will ever have playing the game. This does not include the cost of getting him there and what you will spend to travel and stay.
I see from an old budget, we were at $2631/Player for the 12U year.

I run a small program and costs are about $1700 for the YEAR, after watching these perfect game tournaments I've realized its about the training/exposure to competition...And not having to pay $450 for uniform/spiritwear crap. Pay for the coach and the training, your player won't remember how cool he looked, but he will remember hitting the game winning run in, or throwing a no-no. |

This is a good budget for what they got. You can add another $1500.00 for you and wife for the week and souvenirs @ CDP. You are going to or consider buying a auto baseball of your favorite player at the downtown shops. But your child will have a good chance to hit a HR due to the 200' fence. It can get worse. You can pay for field time and never get on your field to practice because the park decided to push back tourneys a day. Serveral teams have gone independent because of no field practice time. If you can find a good coach and go independent it is the way to go. Dont feel you have to go to an elite park because most of the players at the older ages at elite parks did not come up through their ranks.
