Yankees loaded? Should be fun, but impressing folks isn't my barometer for success. So many make promises of having this type of team or that. All I can say is that the Yankees are looking to develop the player, not the parent. Troublesome parents should go someplace else. We're not into “loading” a team, promising to compete against anybody in the nation, nor assembling kids who do not complement one another both on and off the field. Having played D1 for a top 25 team, those who can achieve that will still look back and remember playing with their buddies when they were young (and hopefully really learning the game). That's the team philosophy. ECB is about good coaching, and a 12U experience that will promote your son to want to continue to play at 13. If that's loaded, I agree. |

So as we come out of the private (which are not as private as everyone seems to think they are) try-outs and into the ECB main try-out what do we have? How are the rosters shaping up? Any sleeper teams that have picked up some kids? Will there be better parity among the team's strengths this season at ECB? We have: Yankees, Astros, Braves, Indians, Dodgers, Titans. Had Mudcats but sounds like they are no longer. Will we see any of the kids who are frozen actually at the ECb try-outs? Or just players hoping to catch the few spots being left open? |

Astros and Braves I think will be top teams to beat. They just need a few more. I favor the Braves dont know what Astros have yet. Parity with the remaining. I know several frozen will be going. Expect to see few from the top teams. I was hoping to see more than ten teams this year. Where did everybody go? It is now a Coaches market. |

So how was the turnout for tryouts at ECB? Will it be 6 teams this year? |

Six sets of coaches were there (Yankees, Astros, Braves (less one), Indians, Titans, and Dodgers). Well ran clinic by Chance and others. Neat fungoman machine was used. A little disappointed that only a few kids whose parents consider them elite showed. Seems every year the same ones have something else going on. No big deal. More reps for my kid and the others to get better. I am just not a big fan of paying for something and not getting value out of it. Also thought it was odd that the park felt the need to cut the outfield while the tryout was going on. I thought the three different drills going on at the same time was enough of a distraction without having to add in Edward Scissorhands five feet behind my kid. He still had all eleven fingers afterwards so all is well (ha).

Astros,Braves,Dodgers,Titans,Yankees,Indians all I saw. Where are the teams? Guess they want a place to practice. As expected most of the already chosen were not there. Godzela was a no show. Highlight Astro ran 6.1 40ty at 160 lbs. The implosion of Mudcats has players jumping around including Braves. Will have to wait to see after the dust settle. Dodgers looking for catcher and ss and up to possible 6 total. Yanks and Titans looking for several. Indians looking for the most to go on a roster. There where enough there to have two more aaa teams. My opinon ECB 12u two Major rest AAA. It seems the majic words are year end Cooperstown with its 200' fence. We have guys that can throw from hr plate and hit that. If you had speed, could hit, good glove and some pitching you got multi offers. |

What do you mean the Indians looking for the most to go on a roster? |

Sorry if it came across wrong. I asked each coach how many do you plan to carry on a roster. Indians said thought about 15. That was the most on a roster of any coaches I asked (others 11-14). If your looking to get on an ECB team tryout for the one that has the most on a roster. Astros/Braves are just about full except for Elite player with speed. Up to six players openings were being looked at by other ECB teams as I was told by their coaches. |

Sheesh! 15 players on a 12U team? Unless they are carrying pitchers only, getting playing time and at bats is going to be a challenge.

They are growing up fast. If you can, best to start specializing. I know we are going in that direction as a pitcher. Maybe the smart thing to do. In fact, it would be nice to be a hired gun and just pitch and go home. You get what you wanted and save money. One of the Ga. pitchers pitched for TX Banditos this weekend at ECB.
