Many teams are on a waiting list, as I understand..My question is for those who in years past might have been on waiting list, what is the probability that you will get a notice you made the field? I'm guessing pretty slim, and what dates work for you..I was told 2 weeks ago that 1st week had better chance do to some states still in school..Has anyone got a notice long after saying they got a spot for you??? |

Southside, i can't help u with your question. I don't know the typical time it takes to get a spot. We are going this summer, but started planning last spring.... As for which tournement is the "one" to go to..We did the elite32 last summer & are going to cooperstown this june. When I asked my son if he could only pick one to go to, which would it be... he said the elite 32 hands down. Since it's about them, maybe he will be fortunate enough to do both. |

Southside, the "final" payments are due in to Cooperstown by March 1st. If you haven't been notified that a slot was opened to you by mid-March, I wouldn't count on it.
That's just my opinion, but based on how they usually do things, I think that's a safe rule of thumb. |

Living in Orlando and playing at Disney often, it would be my last choice. The Disney complex isnt that great. The fields are in poor shape and you have to walk a mile just to move from one field to another. Not to mention but the concession prices are more than any major league park out there.
I know in some major tournaments you play to see good competition but in my humble opinion travel ball is also about the kids love and enjoyment of the game and the experience at whichever park they are attending. I would almost bet that if you asked any kid. Would you rather go play the top 5 teams in the country this weekend or go to say Cooperstown and play, most kids because they are kids would go with Cooperstown. |

Agree.. Been to Disney and the walk is a pain in the you know what, especilly if your hauling equipment..Prices are crazy, played on softball fields, although 1 game they put us (12u) on big field and moved bases into grasss, it was disaster.. Glad we got to experience Disney, but I would look to go somewhere else if it were between that and another place.. |

I hate to talk bad about the Disney Wide World of Sports, but it was awful when we played down there. Clear fences 300 ft fields for 11 year olds. On top of the our game got rained out and they sent us back to Georgia. Cooperstown hopefully will be better. |

The weather was terrible this week in Cooperstown!!! There were games last night that played until 3:30am. We had several rain delays. Make sure you pack long pants!!!! It was suppose to be warm, sunny, and in the 70's, but it wasn't. Very cold most of the time. Went at 2yrs ago and the weather was cold too. I sure hope the weather is better for everyone else!!! |

Knucklecurve you are right about the weather.....rain on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday with not a lot to do. It did however create several of the most competitive tape ball games known to man. Hilarious to watch 11 amped up 12 yr olds playing in a 10' x 20' area using trunks and bed as bases. And by the way anything above the chair railing in the air was a home run.
The White Sox did have a good run. The boys went 6-2 and were 6 outs away with a 6-0 lead to go 6-0 in pool play. They played 41 innings of great baseball and 2.....well not so good.
Our last game started at 12:20 am Thursday morning and finished up sometime around 3 am. Sounds crazy but great life long memories and experiences for the boys. It’s a story that will be retold many times for years to come I'm sure.

We just returned from week 1 of Cooperstown 2010. I can tell you that every kid, parent, and coach said it was the most incredible baseball experience they have ever participated in. Past players and coaches from college to high school told me that would be the case, but it exceeded my wildest dreams. I saw some of the best players in America. We think we have all the talent hear, and we are loaded, but I saw kids that were amazingly gifted. Such as the 6'2" kid from California who threw gas. There was also a team from Alaska. They were terrible. But, they are part of what makes it a great event. They were just glad to be there and play against some very talented teams. There were other teams that had been formed with the sole purpose of winning. One of the best, Carolina Raiders, stayed next to us in the barracks. They had formed from 3 Carolnia travel teams and were studs. Ran up on an incredible pitchewr from Deer Park and lost in the semis or would have won the whole deal..
The facilities were the best in I've ever seen. 8 inches of rain in 3 days and we still got it in. I can promise you that would never happen anywhere else. We played at 10:30pm and 1:00am back to back games. The kids loved it. We actually played one of our best games ( a 2-1 loss knocking us out versus Sharon Springs Baseball) of the year and ended at 3:30am. Not one person ever complained about the rain, the cold, or the competition. Beyel Brothers from Florida beat Deer Park from Texas in the finals. The championship game in Little Majors Stadium was like a minor league game, 2,000 people, music, concession vendors selling popcorn, peaunuts, water, etc. in the stands. Music in between innings, 6 umpires, who were excellent. They have spent more money under the fields than they have on the fields.
Staff was as friendly and accomodating as you will ever find. Cooperstown Dream Park complex is like nothing you will ever see. 22 fields all exactly the same. One of the best parts of baseball is the sounds. All field are surronunded by green woodedn fences and the echos and sounds are maginified. Saying the Lords prayer at 1:05am with the echo left me blubbering in the huddle. The crack of the bat and the pop of a catchers mit were the sounds you think of when tyou thnink baseball.
The Hall of Fame was awesome! Spent 3 hours there. Our team, players, kids, coaches and parents left closer and tighter than ever before.
The only regret I have is my older son missed out on it. If you have a chance to go... go!

Name me one other tournament that any of your kids have played in that had: a) 102 teams in it b) All the kids staying in barracks...separated from parents...and treated like the stars of the show the whole time they're there c) A chance at playing in front of over 2,000 people in the final game of the tournament.
Look, there's no comparison between the level of competition every week at Cooperstown and the Elite 32. But, you can go to the Elite 32 every year for the next several years if your team is good enough. You can only go to Cooperstown at 12 (I'm excepting the one week of 10's). And, just so you know, almost every team that plays in the Elite 32 will also punch their "Cooperstown ticket".
My son was able to go with a 10-year old team and I was able to watch them play and win 2 games on Father's Day in the place where baseball originated. I remember standing around the grill at the house we were renting with several of the other families from our team and thinking that I had just experienced the greatest Father's Day I had ever had or probably ever will have....and knowing that my youngest son would always remember that day as well.
And, regarding cost, when we went at 10 years old, my out-of-pocket cost for the entire family (including the $800'ish for my son's registration) was less than what I spent last year to stay in a condo at Panama City for the end of the season world series.
Little League World Series at 12. More than 102 teams when you think about really earning a spot to play and be the best, More viewers you are playing on TV, can stay with their parents and enjoy the Tournament with their team and family.

Baseball Papa had tears in his eyes reading about your experiences at Cooperstown and I also felt a little sadness that I would not be coming up this year. Baseball Papa may have a record of sorts when it comes to Cooperstown in that I have made this trip of a lifetime on 3 separate occassions and each trip was a little better than the last.
I first attended in 2007 with the 10U Chiefs that won the championship game over TABU from California in one of the most anticipated and electrically charged games that I have ever watched. When I got back to Georgia I told my friends that I thought that I had died and that the Lord has placed me in baseball heaven but that I was sad in that I never thought that I would ever experience that feeling again. How wrong I was and in only two short years I was back not only once but twice with my older Grandson trying to win it for the second time and my younger grandson that was playing in the 10 year old division that his brother had won only 2 short years prior.
In my wildest dreams I never imagined that I would walk back into Little Majors Stadium for the championship game as I would have thought with over 100 teams participating each week that it would be impossible to relive the thrill of the Chief's winning it all in 2007.
But I did walk back into Little Majors Stadium again and not once but twice in back to back weeks with the Chiefs following up their 2007 victory with a runner up finish to Lamorinda California in the 12 year old finals and exactly a week later my 10U Bandits winning it all over the 643 Cougars in a all Georgia finals. This was one of the greatest experiences of my life and the memories made there will follow me home after my days on this earth are gone.
I did learn a lesson. With 2 more grandson's just starting Dizzy Dean All Star's this week I am now dreaming of returing to Cooperstown and walking once again into Litte Majors Stadium and reclaiming one of the greatest feelings on the earth.
One of the first people I told of my Cooperstown experience was a Longhorn player's Dad and he just called and thanked me for telling him that he had to find a way to get to Cooperstown. Good job Georgia teams. Papa promises you that the people in Cooperstown know that the State of Georgia can play some baseball. |

We head up Friday for the 10U week. And my son and I can't wait. Personally, we are going so that both of us can have a great time. Win or loss, it will be a week to remember. I really hope my son continues to love the game of baseball the rest of his life. Because right now, I know he is doing simply for the love of playing the game.
(After spending 7 hours at baseball camp in 95 degree heat yesterday, he asked me to take him to the batting cage for a lesson last night. Watching him work on his form after a full day in the heat showed me how much he truely enjoys this game.) |

MBA beat the Nike Cobras and lost to the Lomorinda Monarchs in pool play. MBA had the toughest pool by far. RR's will have to go thru MBA, Lomorinda, and GBC on their side of the bracket to make it to the finals. The final 8 should be some great match ups to watch. |

So far, so good for Roadrunners. Mike and guys are up 5-0 in the 3rd of the first game.
Does look like a tough draw for them though. If they win, they most likely get Lamorinda next (Lamorinda is winning their game as well), and I think the Monarchs may be the team to beat up there this week.
