They looked great in Fall. I know there were borrowing one of the best catchers in the Southeast U.S. from the Bay Bombers for those tourneys. I wonder if they had any other "rent-a-players"? Anybody out there know? I heard some of the Fall boys might play up on their 11u team for Spring, so they may have lost them too?

I love to see out of town team come in a shake things up. Makes us all remove our blinders from time to time. I'm guilty of being Atlanta-centric.

No other rent a players as you put it. We were hoping he would join our team but logistics posed to big of a problem. I read where bball123 guaranteed a different roster come spring, and he was right, we will be missing one from the fall.

Hey Stixx. One of the Bandits here. You bring anyone you want as long as they are the right age. This is elite travel ball not some rec league and anything goes. All of us big boys know this and expect to be playing the best that you can round up. But if you happen to have a big stick left could you let me know what he might rent for. Look forward to seeing you at the Super NIT and Good Luck.

baseballpapa, i just want to let you know that the kids that played on the stixx this fall did play with the 10 u stixx last summer, but when they played they were 9 at the time. and when they were 9 we came up there and won too. i carry a roster and birth cert. at all times and you are welcome to check it.and for the kid from the bombers goes, his father called me and wanted him to go to east cobb with us to impress the coach from the grip. whenever we left sunday night he called me and said that he found the team that he needed to play with but p.c. fla was to far from albany ga.

Moss 21 - I have absolutely no questions concerning the ages of your kids. They were all great kids and I have no doubt the right age. I was just digging at the rent a player thing as you never know when you might need to rent a player. Nothing but respect for the Stixx from our end.

You may have misunderstood my prior posting. I was not saying your boys were not playing in their proper age group. I was saying that many of them can play up, so we cant know how many will play in their natural age group, and which will play up come tourney time. Same with my post about Mizuno. Sorry I wasn't clear enough.

Glad you allowed the Bomber family to come along to see their pals. They've forged a special connection of mutual respect even though they live hours apart through competing. Gifted players seem to attract.

Can't wait to see you guys mix it up with our best.

That kid from the Bay Bombers didn't need to come up to Marietta to impress anyone from the Grip. We played against the Bay Bombers twice last year while we were with the 9u Mill Creek team. That kid is the best catcher we've seen in his age group. He's also a great hitter and pitcher.

In the next few weeks travelballselect will put out their early team rankings and players to watch in 2009. I hear this year will have 10u players to watch for, maybe that will answer some questions.

I have seen the Bombers catcher play, he's probably the best 10u player out there. I hear they picked up a big 150 lbs lefty that can hit 300ft and has great pitching ability, can't wait to see them play. I hear they might make a surprise visit at the Frost on the 27th

I totally agree the Bomber's catcher is a great player but no way is he is the best in 10U baseball. There are many contenders for this title but since we have only played a few 10U games in the fall, lets wait and see how this plays out.

But this does make for a good topic?

What are we looking for when we judge this best 10U player.

1. Pitching
2. Hitting
3. Defense
4. Speed
5. All of the above

5 categories: pitchers, catchers, position players, hitters, all around.

I see the best overall, and best position player as toughest to grade.
The pitchers, catchers, hitters will jump out at you. Pitching (velocity & nasty changes), catchers (who stop the running game), and hitters (popping it over), are easy to spot. They create a buzz in the stands of a big tourney. The all around 5 tool player who is sound in all areas, but doesn't do any of the above with any great regularity is tough to spot by casually watching a tourney.

We can't wait to watch some quality baseball up here at the Super NIT. I agree with the prior post that if you end up in the top 5 you have done something. The talent should be deep. I think there will be a lot of surprises. I don't know if some of the teams that have signed up realize the talent that will be here. Having success in fall ball (Football season) in no way guarantees success in the spring. This is BASEBALL season and I hope everyone is preparing accordingly. Rumor has it that some aren't putting in the work required to compete. I guess we'll see soon enough. March isn't far off.

Having played at Disney last year as 9u I feel the competition level is so good at ATL Super NIT this year I don't see how Disney could top it. It's going to take alot of luck to go with great skill and some really good coaching to win this thing. I hope who'ever wins it wins Disney to and the National Championship in Memphis. Good luck to you all.

I've noticed only 2 of 26 teams (Scorpions,Express)from that side of town in the Majors division, & 3 (ad EC Bulldogs)of 32 overall (major+AAA) w/ only 4 spots left.

There are only 6 Cobb area teams in the Forsyth Slugfest as well. However, 12 Cobb area teams chose to play in their own backyard (TC Spring Frost), so its not the weather keeping them away.

Any other thoughts? If you had to choose 1 of these 3, why not choose to play the best in the S-NIT rather than bang each other around for the most part? You have all season to do that.

I admire the teams most who make the S-NIT their 1st priority. This field is much stronger than the other two. I can see skipping the Slugfest due to so many feeder teams, but not the S-NIT.

I can't speak for everyone else in East Cobb but ATPP (which we are playing in) is 10 minutes away from my house. Forsyth is 45-50 minutes (which we also are playing in). Henry County has the worst traffic in ATL and is 75-90 minutes away if traffic is good. Personally, I hate playing in Henry County, mainly due to traffic on I-75 (only traffic in ATL on weekends). Having said that, I have 2 players on a school field trip that weekend so it wasn't an option for our team. 643 has players from the same schools as we do so they could be missing players as well.

For the record, there are 0 Gwinnett teams in the TC Frost which includes every Top 10 in the state + Bay Bombers except the ECB Tigers and Stixx (who were previously signed up). It is too bad because we were hoping to see the Grip team that you keep mentioning. Do you know why they aren't playing?

We have made a very tough decision to attempt to play in all of the very most elite tournaments that we can find. We want to see and play all of the teams that are above us in the rankings to face and determine how we stack up.

I hope and at this point do not believe that the East Cobb teams are dodging anyone or trophy hunting but would hope that we see them and all of the other great teams get into the fray quickly.

The reason I said it was a tough decision to enter the tournaments we have is that we fully understand and expect that we might lose a few more games than last year but have decided that the best way to get better is to play the best.
