Which teams will come to the Slugfest w/renewed determination to show their stuff?

Which ones will convert their disappointment into an early season tailspin?

Which ones will watch a couple of movies today and play Guitar Hero w/their buds?

I think the movies and Guitar hero is more like it. They are only kids and not sure if they are capable yet of showing renewed determination for the 1st big tournament of the year. Most of the kids are just as excited about the prospect of snow on Sunday as they were about playing baseball this weekend.....now the parents, thats a different story. The games I saw were really good and I think we are in for some really good baseball this season.

What you will probably see are some teams showing rust next weekend instead of getting it over this weekend. The thing is, how teams do this time of the year is no real indication of how their season will end. It just tells them what they need to work on to be playing well the back half of the season.

We really love to practice but the practice thing is getting old. Coach did have a little competition going on in the large cage splitting the team up and giving points for each hit etc. Seemed to give the boys a little extra energy and put a little extra pep in their step.
With all of the crystal ball guys that seem to already know who the winner will be I say bull. Truth is that none of us know for sure, Some only know a little and some don't have a clue. After pouring over the posts I have come to the conclusion that baseball is not for predicting but baseball is meant to be played. Only after all of the games are played will we know the winner and even then I expect that the next big tournament will produce another winner and then we will be predicting who is the better the Slugfest winner or the Super NIT winner.
I am now going to enlighten you on why this game is so special. They are all the winners. It's because they chose to work as hard as you have to work to play on an elite travel team. Its because they have now proably hit 1000's of practice balls in the cages and on the fields. It's because they put it on the line every tournament they enter. It's because at this age they are able to lose and come back to the next tournament with a renewed determination. If we do our jobs as parents and coaches baseball is a lesson not only in baseball but in life as well.
I have to admit that we were all dissapointed that the rain kept us from the ball field. We are just like all of you in that we are ready to play ball. I wish all of the teams good luck and my only hope is that all the kids play their best because if your guys play their best it should only help bring out the best in our guys.

Amen to that.

I was just being silly, but it is too bad because the tournament that just got washed out was one of the best early season tournaments last year. We weren't signed up, but my sons and I were going to head over there and watch several of our friends who were.
