My understanding is the Slugfest will seperate out by Major and AAA/AA. If so, here are the groupings for 10U.
AAA/AA
Teams USSSA Points Ranking
Memphis Outlaws (TN) 1
Mill Creek Hawks- Gold 2
Dobbs Creek Warriors 3
Dacula Falcons 4
Forsyth Fire Ants 5
Georgia Raptors 6
North Gwinnett Bulldogs 7
Sandy Plains Wildcats 8
Sawnee Mountain Thunder 9
Sharon Springs Spartans Silver 10
Team Wilson 11
Wills Park Yellow Jackets 12
Georgia Titans 13
Norcross Blue Devils 14
Duluth Wildcats 15
Coal Mountain Raiders 16

Major
Teams USSSA Points Ranking
East Cobb Scorpions 1
East Cobb Longhorns 2
6-4-3 DP Cougars 3
Alpharetta A's 4
Bandits Baseball 5
East Cobb Tigers 6
Kennesaw Express 7
Midway Dirty Dawgs 8
Milton Mets 9
North Georgia Storm 10
Sharon Springs Spartans Blue 11

Based on these rankings, the tounament will seed them into pools. Typically based on a serpentine method through the pools.

I don't have any idea how many pools they plan to break the teams into so I won't even speculate how they divide these out. I just wanted you to get an idea of how the logic will work. USSSA is very specific on how pools are determined to keep down the subjectivity of the assignments. What that typically causes are some matchups, especially early on, that may cause some questions as to why teams are matched up in pool play.

We want to play so bad that we really could care less who we play but it does appear to me that this system penalizes the teams that did not play fall ball and did not accumulate any points. Baseball is certainly our favorite sport but it is not the only one. Kids at this age need to be well rounded and not pigeoned holed into one sport. Also how does Alpharetta A's and 6-4-3 rank #3 and #4 ahead of the Bandits at #5 when all 3 have zero points this year. If I am not mistaken last year at 9U this same Bandits team earned the #1 ranking in both points and power rating. Should this not count for something with all other things being equal. I don't speak for anybody but me but as long as we are in the Major division put us where you will and we will give you our best shot.

Papa, you are correct in that if 2 teams mentioned don't have any 2009 points then the tournament director will look back at last years point for seeding. If no points then it's just a blind draw between other teams who have no points. Also, a team must have 5 returning players to consider their last years points.

My guess
643 vs Wills Park in quarters top bracket to play winner of Scorpians vs Longhorns in semis
Bandits vs Kennesaw in quarters of bottom bracket and winner plays winner of ECB Tigers vs Millcreek in semis

bball fan, If you know someone on the bandits that is throwing 65 mph could you please share it with us so we might pitch him some. I don't think that you should take so serious everything you read in these posts. I can promise you that the bandits do not have anyone throwing close to 65. We plan on coming, having a lot of fun and good luck to you and your team. And before we move up to the 12's I would like to see how we stack up against the many 10U teams that we have all the respect in the world for. You can mark this statement down. There are at least 10 and maybe 15 teams capable of winning this tournament if they play up to their potential and we will not overlook or underestimate any one of them. We play in one of the toughest age groups to be found in this state.

Anything can happen but your prediction of Sandy Plains winning pool G over ECB Tigers/Astros is a stretch....

"Must be the wrong hat"

Pool G-How do you think SP wildcats finish ahead of the last years ECB Astros?

"D" I dont have anything on any of those teams I did pull that one out of my... well hat.

Looking ahead to bracket play if 6-4-3 wins their pool they have to face the Outlaws early if Bandits win their pool. Scorpians get a heck of a bracket if they win their pool, the wont face a top team until game 15 vs longhorns or millcreek or wills park, Bandits and Kennesaw will face off in game 22 and this could very well be a finals match, hate to see them play each other this early, ECB Tigers will probably meet the winner of that game in game 25, unless Pool B, wills or mill creek upsets them. So looking at it in speculation, we get to see bandits vs kennesaw, and the winner play ECB Tigers,
643 or Outlaws take the top bracket. If I am the longhorns I want to finish 3rd in my pool. Looking at it that way I see Bandits, Kennesaw or ECB Tigers in the finals with winner of 6-4-3 vs Memphis Outlaws.
FINAL PREDICTION FROM bUllwinkle BANDITS VS 643-BANDITS cHAMPS

I like how the SP Wildcats did in their last tourney, and I'm thinking the Astros/Tigers might not be tourney sharp yet. I don't always pick the favorite.

I don't see what you see in the Outlaws. All I know about them is what I can find in the virtual World. I go to lots of games, but must admit, none of them were in Memphis.

Sharon Springs Blue was South Forsyth last year. Does that help? They were a top 10 rated 9U team by years end, and they've improved their team.

Raptors- these are not the Georgia Raptors, there are 2 Raptor teams in this age group. These Raptors won the G-Force tourney 2 weekends ago by beating Midway and Parkview back to back.

A's were the Ocee Stars last year. They were re-classified as Majors by USSSA. Lowest power rating in 10U Majors.

Norcross had the 2nd highest scoring team in GGBL as 9's, but lacked pitching depth and their defense was weak. They recruited some help from Duluth.

I like the fact you don't pick all the favorites. I usually take Princeton in my Final Four Bracket and pick alot of underdogs myself. Sounds like Sharon Springs Blue may be the sleeper I have been looking for. I thought they had a pretty good team if they were the South Forsyth Team. Raptors beat Midway then that puts them up there too, those two teams should be pretty evenly matched. Only thing I know for certain is I am never right on my predictions so since I am picking mostly favorites we will probably have some upsets. I wish today was Friday.
Come back and blast me on Monday, I deserve it. Good luck to all the teams and I hope some of them shut me up.

Rocky, at least we had the guts to put it all out there. I feel like
a turkey the day before Thanksgiving. All our fellow posters will be chasing us around with axes just waiting for our picks to be wrong.

WARNING: if you dont post your educated guesses by tomorrow at 6PM, you lose the right to chop our heads off Monday morning. My responses to your critisisms will simply be "gobble, gobble, gobble"

The Coaches who dont throw any of their top 4 pitchers in the pool games could make us both look like clucks!

I'll take a stab at this so that Bmoser and Rocky are not feeling all alone, and with some play on names just for fun:

A - Scorpions, DC, Picnic Pests
B - Jackets, Cows w/horns, Birds, Coal Mt
C - Thieves, Black Hat Cowboys, Dawgs, Scrappy Cats
D - Oakland, Devils, Sharon, Dinos
E - Pitcher's BF, Midway, Nissan Trucks, Noise Makers
F - Locomotives, Storm, Wilson, Birds
G - Yesterday's Astros, Sharon, Amazin's, Scrappy Cats

I hope nobody takes this too seriously or is offended by this. Some of those are stricly S.W.A.G.'s as I am not familiar with some of these teams. I don't know how Bmoser makes it to all of these games - cloning ???????

As everyone knows, I am the prognosticator of the year with my research and algorithms and I am sure you all have been anxiously awaiting my predictions. Please don't shower me with praises as I only accept them from worthy aspirants, but do take note as I am 100% correct, 100% of the time. Place your bets now.

A - Scorpions
B - Wills Park
C - Bandits or Outlaws (they don't play each other)
both should want 1st bad, because huge advantage of 2nd
D - S. Springs Blue
E - 643 or Midway (also don't play each other)
again, both should want 1st badly
F - Kennesaw
G - Tigers

Other notes:
- Winner will be Kennesaw or Bandits (me thinks Kennesaw, but they have to win 7 where everyone else besides Pool G has to win 6)

- Don't be surprised to see S. Springs go very deep. They have a great draw

- Wills Park will pull an upset or two against ECB teams

- S.P. will not beat Tigers (and may not want to) despite what bmoser believes

Hawkeye has spoken!!

You make a good point about pitching and predictions. I wonder if any coaches might see an easier bracket play by not winning their pool. I would doubt it though, most teams want to win every game they can and the winner of this tournament might not lose a game. You never know though.

We learned from last year and this year we will be throwing some better pitchers in pool games (minimum innings)just to make sure we get a decent seed in the bracket. It's kind of like a timeout in football or basketball you can't take innings home with you.

Don't confuse that statement with throwng a player to much please.

A. Scorpions - best pool draws and game times
DC
Fire ants

B. Longhorns - even with a skewed schedule (late night and early morning games ?? ) we still win this pool.
mill creek
wills park
coal mtn

C. Bandits - easy pool for them
Outlaws
Bulldogs
Wildcats

D. SSS - Dark horse , could go deep
a's
Norcross
Raptors

E. 643 - Not convinced on thier hitting yet, weak in the fall
Midway
Titans
Thunder

F. Kenn. - wait to see thier strength, not impresive in the fall
Wilson
storm
falcons

G. ECB Tigers - could be rusty ?,have not played since the spring
Sharon Springs
Mets
Wildcats

I see the Bandits and Longhorns in the semi in the lower bracket and 643 and Sharon Springs Silver in the upper bracket semi with a 643 vs longhorns final. But I could be biased ;-)

BBALL123 That's what I like to see, putting it all out there. Gonna be fun to see how our guesses pan out. I'm curious to see if any AA teams can beat any AAA teams, and if any AAA teams can take down any of you big boys. Could happen in the pool games, but I dont see it happening in brackets.
