Any insight on 11u? Top 4, middle 4 and bottom 4 seeds? Seems like Stars, Roadrunners and Chattanooga Col. will beat up on each other in their pool, and the other pools seem even as well (though there are a few teams I dont know anything about). I look for the Colt .45s and South Forsyth to be in the mix as well. Thoughts? |

Saw That....Tha should make one team happy and one team mad. Look at the original pool games and you can determine the two I speak of. Probably does not change the end result (but could)...
You tell me Mike...Would you rather play the Stars or Titans in pool, knowing you are trying to get a top 4 seed. I wish, for once, when a tourney says it is closed, it would be. |

I would watch out for the Rome Rattlers. These are some of the same kids that has been very successful in this age group since 5-6. They split this year and added some good Cedartown players to an already good roster. They could be dangerous. They have been playing in some Class AA type tournaments in an attempt to gel and it must be working as they have won both tournaments they entered. |

Well I know Rusty and I both said something to the tournament guys. We both explained to them that they (USTBA) were defeating what they were trying to do, with the three different levels, by having the Stars, Roadrunners and Colonels play each other in pool play. And to answer Going Deeps question, yes I would rather play the Titans over the Stars in pool play. In my opinion who ever did the pools in the 11u division screwed it up pretty bad. If they didn't know the team in the age bracket then they should have asked someone who does.
Supposedly what happened was that the Icons could not play on Friday due to basketball. They had asked not to play on Friday back when they entered the tournament. But ended up getting scheduled on Friday anyways, so they switched the Roadrunners to their spot.
I hope that you actually don't think that the Roadrunners would actually get ANY sort of preferential treatment in an East Cobb tournament. Yeah right... maybe when pigs fly. |

Pretty easy to tell. Just look at Goin Deep's post. You have to question why the Roadrunners, Stars and Chatt. Colonels would all be matched up in pool play when only one of them can realisticcally advance. (different story if everyone advances to the same bracket). But I agree, pulling one of those teams out into a different pool after the schedule comes out is pretty questionable. I also just noticed the pitching rules --no more than 8 innings in 2 days (not the whole tournament). A distinct advantage for those teams that get to play on Friday night as they can reset the innings clock on their top pitchers on Sunday.
Based on the current schedule and pitching rules, You'd have to say the favorites are the Roadrunners and Colt .45s. On an even playing field, I'd say the Chatt Colonels, EC Stars and Battlefield Redsox.

Bruins1....Not sure if you meant I whined, but if you did, trust me, I would not even begin to know who to whine to. Not to mention our schedule did not change.quote: Originally posted by bruins1

Nope, didn't mean that at all Going Deep. Quite the opposite. I meant, as you stated in your post, anyone can match up the original schedule with the new one and see who sought a change.

I understand about the Icons and basketball, but the Colonels and the Stars are still playing each other...This is a National Tournament where the best come to play the BEST that the tournament has to offer...Now what I am hearing is that teams that are Majors don't want to play other Major teams for the fear of falling into another bracket...This isn't USSSA that does this for teams with MAJOR rakings...In USTBA none of the teams have many points if any...But seeing how it may have turned out the the R.R. may have went 0-2 I would want the change ALSO.... |

Got it Bruins 1.... Not sure if anyone complained or not.. All I know is on Monday night it was posted as "closed" and brackets were out. Mid morning on Tuesday ECB Braves were added. That HAD to have something to do with it. Speculation on the whining part.
Either way, Play Ball. |

My top 4 seeds are East Cobb Colt 45's, East Cobb Braves, Georgia Roadrunners, and East Cobb Stars. Notice 3 of the 4 top seeds are East Cobb teams. East cobb has very competitive teams this year. All the teams in the tournament are well coached and have very talented players. Some teams that I didn't mention that may make it a long way are the South Forsyth Renegades, Battlefield Redsox, and the Chattanooga Colonels. Good Luck to all teams.

Were the Braves added as a replacement to another team or just added? Weren't there always 12 teams on the list? I know that the California and Indiana teams disappeared like a week ago off the list. But I still thought there was a 12 team list.
Just to clarify one thing. We were completely prepared to play the Stars and Colonels in our pool. We don't shy away from any competition, and certainly did not ask to get our schedule changed. I am shocked that they did change it without an explanation to the teams.
Either way hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can actually get some games in this weekend. Lets play ball!!! |

Congrats to the ECB Stars for running the table on this tourney. Took out the Atlanta Icons and Chatt. Colonels in a very tough pool play bracket, number one seed overall, then went through the Roadrunners and run ruled the ECB Colt .45s in the Championship game. They lived up to the hype. Congrats to the Colt .45s for an excellent showing making it to the Championship game. Congrats to J. Kouloukas for picking the final 4 in an earlier post. Not too shabby. |

That is exactly as it turned out...
#1 seed Stars, #2 seed Colt .45s #3 seed Braves and #4 Ga Roadrunners. Stars and Colt .45s in the championship. Congrats to both teams.quote: Originally posted by jkouloukas

I watched the game between the Roadrunners and the Stars yesterday. I was very impressed with the hitting and defense of the Stars. Also, I sat behind home plate the entire game and that left handed pitcher for the Stars was painting the outside corner with fastballs and changeups. Congratulations to the Stars. |

Ronicard, I too saw the Roadrunner game and most of the championship game. I agree with you, the Stars are solid. Their lefty did throw a great game although he naturally got tired late. I like their hitters. Solid top of the lineup lefties in the first couple holes, power hitters after that. Great combo. Congrats to the Stars.
