The AA Mill Creek-Red team is the 10U 2009 sleeper team of the year. This is not the #4 ranked 9U Mill Creek team from last year who beat the Bay Bombers twice...that team disbanded. This is a new version w/ a Rookie Coach and 6 rookie travel ball players.

How many 10U AA teams have beaten Major teams? How many teams have won a large higher class tourney? How many teams have run ruled a higher class team in a tourney final? How many AA teams hit 5 homers in a tourney? I thought AA Duluth's Final 4 finish at the Forsyth Slugfest was special.

Will somebody PLEASE get the gifted Gwinnett boys onto one team and hunt down the Mizuno Glory!

I don't know about the Mill Creek team, but the West Georgia Bandits came out of nowhere and beat some good teams this weekend. They are a very solid defensive team, put the ball in play, have a couple of big bats in the middle of their line-up, and throw strikes. They even scored 5 against Bandits Baseball, which is 3 more than anyone else in GA this year that I've seen.

I'd say this is a sleeper team to look out for.

I've been watching the West GA Bandits. They look very good to me too. Mill Creek is dismantling AAA and even Major teams. Go to USSSA and ck out their record. If they had more pitching, they'd be tough to beat. Fun to see these teams sneaking up on folks.

Any other surprising teams out there?

Hawkeye is right about the West Georgia Bandits. The way to earn respect is to earn it on the field and that if what West Georgia Bandits have done playing some great defense and putting the baseball in play. They could not catch up to the Georgia Bandits pitching but scored 5 more runs than 643 has managed in 2 full games but then again most of their runs were scored after the game was in the bag. Georgia Bandits threw everything but the batboy at 643 as we knew that this would be the toughest game of the day. If the West Georgia Bandits improve their pitching they will lose the sleeper term very quickly.

bmoser: The West Georgia Bandit Coach told our coach that they played us last year but it must have been under a different team play as I did not remember seeing them. Their Coach said we crushed them and from that point he started building his team along the lines of our team focusing on defense. He has done a good job of his defense but their pitching will most likely not carry them far. He gets some pitching and he could be ready for the majors. Have the Bandits been in anything with this Mills Creek team and how do they stack up against the Mills Creek team that played in the Super NIT.

You are correct. Mill Creek Hawks- Red beat the West Georgia Bandits in the South Gwinnett Shootout. The score was either 9-0 or 8-0.

The AA Mill Creek Red played the AAA Mill Creek Gold team (that played in the Forsyth Slugfest) 1 week ago today in GGBL and the AA Red beat the AAA Gold 15-2. Mill Creek Gold should be classified as AA, and the Red should be AAA. Red needs 2 more pitchers to play Majors, but when they throw the 2 decent pitchers they do have, look out! They have a nice combination of speed and power.

Mill Creek Red beat West GA Bandits 9-0 in a Grand Slam tourney in early March.

My guess is that you played the Carrollton Clippers in a BPA tourney last year. Same Coach now has the West GA Bandits.
