Not much talk about this one but this might be the most talents group of teams assembled for one tournament this year. Looks like a few of the big name teams withdrew otherwise it would have been really loaded. Rays with a couple of nice wins, braves and astros with a tough day. playing on the lil fields is crazy too.

BTW, rules state no pick ups and players have to had playedin 60% of the teams games for the season so why does one team show a kid who hasn't played one game with the team on their roster and another shows 3 kids from GA on a team located 1k miles away. Are you telling me these kids played 60% of that teams games for the year?

here is the schedule, hope it gets cooler cause it was a muggy one today:

Cincy Flames (OH) 12 East Cobb Astros (GA) 3
CF Gators (FL) 17 Georgia Grays (GA) 2

grant baseball and banditos black were ranked #2 & 3 in the country by youth1 sports, I think one of the florida teams will win it.

Right on point with this one , looks like the Rays are the team
to beat and have no excuses to not win the whole thing seeing how they are 2-0 in the first day of pool play. Nothing short of the title should be expected out of the Rays camp. CF has nothing on you guys........

Never said that glenn, simply pointing out the facts after day one. For the most part, the ga teams are having a tough time this week. let's see if they can pull out some games in bracket.

Really? Don't know who you are but Rays have no expectations to win this thing. Although we wouldn't have accepted the invitation if we thought we would embarass ourselves and our park but we did have two modest goals:

Play with the same 12 we've had all year and make it to the winners bracket.

We achieve that by going 3-1 in pool play and earning the 3 seed by giving the number two team in the country their first loss all season, beating the number 21 team in the country and beating a very good GA team that has been in and out of the top 25 in the country all year. I am extremely proud of all our players, every single one of them have contributed.

The one game we lost in pool was to a texas team and we lost it on a 2 out walk off grand slam to lose 10-9 and that may have been my favorite game.

The kid that hit it was bottom of line-up and it was his first home run ever. His dad was jacked and it helped remind me what this baseball thing is really about. Very special moment.

This is a very cool tourney with unbelievable talent. The baseball I have seen has been nothing short of spectacular. My son, his team, his coaches and all the parents are blessed to be able to experience this.

I cant control what everyone posts but I am always going to be 100 percent behind all GA teams (unless we are playing one of them). BTW 3 of us made it to the final 8.

Newton, don't know what your issue is but lets try to keep it positive.

How'd the rankings shake out? Can't find them on the TBS site. Looks like Rays had a nice run and topped the GA teams.

If you have a link to the rankings please post.

The only thing wierd about this tournament is they have the twelve year olds playing on 200 ft fields while the elevens are playing on the 250 ft fields at the same time. A little common sense gos a long way. These 12's are the size of grown men! According to the site the championship game for the 12's will be on a 200 ft field????????????? Common.......

Newton--don't quite know what your deal is, but how about keeping it positive. You can't compare the Rays, Titans, Braves to the CF, BBlack and Grant....The three local teams are just that local teams made up of local talent. And they seem to be doing pretty well for the most part.

They dropped out. My guess is that they couldn't meet the 60% requirement for alot of their better pick-up players. I guess they didn't want to play with the roster that played in 60% of their games.

Online streaming element was very cool.

I didnt expect such an early exit for the ECB Rays & Braves.

And what about the bats on the Gators tonight; thought I was watching the MLB HR derby for a minute there, very impressive!

Very proud of our Titan boys. Battled through a tough pool, and beat two top teams today. Our local boys in the Final 4 against the mighty Banditos, Grant, and the Gators! Those teams definitely have a different model than us Georgia teams, but our families are loving competing against the top teams in the country. These teams are loaded with beasts! Very fortunate we are able to play in a National tourney like this right here at East Cobb. Boys will enjoy Tuesday's game no matter the outcome - great way to end our season.

Well the Rays season is over. We are all very proud of our boys this weekend. We have played 17 games in 10 days between the Perfect Game tournament and TBS national. We were 12-5, beat 6 or 7 nationally ranked teams, We lost in the PG ship to our friends the Braves and made it to the final 8 and won one bracket game at TBS.

We had a great tourney but just ran out of arms after 85 innings of pitching over 10 days. Played 7 games in TBS and had wins against Grant Baseball, Cincy Flames, Stealth and Braves. We lost 10-9 to the Banditos on a two out walk-off Grand Slam, got run-ruled AGAIN by our only remaining GA boys the RBA Titans who have had our number all year and lost 11-3 in our rematch with Grant.

This was the last tourney for the 12U East Cobb Rays and a helluva way to end the season. Many great moments this year. Thanks from all the players and their families to Coach Ted, Coach Derrick, Coach Dave and most of all Big Hoss.

Hoss danced with ones that brung him and played the entire year with the same 12 slobs, through prolonged injuries, family comittments etc.. we never picked up a player for any of our 80 games we played this Spring and every one of our kids are better ball players now than they were at the beginning of the season.

That's doing it the right way in my book. As a parent I can't ask for any more than that.

GO RBA Titans, the Rays are pulling for you guys.

I had a dream you will win it! Cause no matter what you are winners as it is not about winning for the sake of winning. But I have a weird feeling about this one for El Titans!

teams should be judged by how much they improve throughout the year and the rays got better no doubt, that's a sign of a good coach with a plan. Playing both PG and TBS is tough because they are back to back and with the amount of games it's a lot of stress on a teams pitching.

this is kind of a last hurrah for this age group as next year will bring so much change, the braves run is almost finished and as we all know nobody has dominated this age group this year. Stealth had a run in May, Braves won some early in the year and several other teams played and won big tournaments later in the year. This was great for the age group as it meant parity was here, beating the top teams is not as a big of an upset as it used to be.

I watched the CFGators and ECBraves game. Even though the Gators fly kids in from parts unknows the talent level is similar. The game was close most of the way. I give the coaching and development edge to EC or obvious reasons. Not sure what all the hype was as if I had more money than sense anyone could build a powerhouse and if I did I would get different coaching.

Kudos to the Georgia coaches, players and families and fans for representing GA with class. Didn't win the ship but you gave us some awesome moments in baseball against the powerhouses. A win against a top team in the country on a walk off, two teams going toe to toe with the Gators for several innings giving us hope of an upset, a couple of wins against nationally ranked teams and all with your own players, even saw a few corkscrew swings by some of the big boys from the GA pitching.

Would be curious to hear some thoughts on the difference in size and skills of some of these teams. This tournament showed us the difference between major and elite. I think the Georgia teams were better defensively but the other teams could just flat out hit. Even though the fields were too small for the bigs kids the mechanics of hitting were just different and more developed. They were aggressive and hit with a vengeance. There were also some 12U pitchers on these teams that could have struck out some college players. Would love to see these same guys play against each other in a few years. I'd bet on Georgia.

Cooper,

Obviously the credit goes to the team that wins but you cannot compare a team that has kids from different parts of the country to a local team.

There is a big difference between a top major team in a state and an "elite" major team. Kirksey has been able to compete year in and year out with these teams.

You actually sound a little bitter. Our "local" GA teams had almost 10 wins against nationally ranked powerhouse teams in this tourney. We had 3 teams make the top 8 and one that made it to the final four.

I don't understand why you can't be positive about that but are so positive on your other post about very good rec allstar teams that give the local major team fits.

I love it when teams like NYO comes in the fray and kicks some butt. The more great teams our kids get to play against the better ALL the kids will be.

As much as you seem to want to, your posts cannot take anything away from GA's 12U teams accomplishments this year. We racked up alot of big wins against teams from across the country this year in NY at Coopertown, Perfect Game and the TBS Nationals and we all did it the RIGHT way IMO. And GA is not done yet!!

GO BRAVES!! All of us from GA are pulling for you (except Cooper) at the Elite 32's. I know you will play your best, do it with class and make some noise!!!

Boys "HAVE YOURSELVES A TOURNAMENT!!! I know you will represent GA and your park with class.

Good luck

Brian

Not bitter at all. I was in town so caught a game. I sat and stood on the cfg side and got a load of how kids are flown from here to there. And how great each parents kid is etc. I moved to Ecb side after out of reach. Class acts and local. All athletes and not just focused on one sport. I respect that ans if it makes me bitter so be it.

iirc, game was tied 5-5 going into top 5th so it was a good game till CF blew it open late but they have done that to many teams. They have 4 kids that are as good as anyone in the state.
